A Long Beach Black-Centered Film and Discussion Series
Conscious Cinema is a free, public Black-centered social justice film series and dialogue initiative in Long Beach.
Film screenings, hosted in locations across the city, will promote dialogue with a diverse audience around social
justice issues through stories and lessons from the past, connecting them to movement building and community
organizing happening today. Through the arts, using film as a tool for inspiration, participants will connect to one
another as a community, explore a greater understanding around the issues as they continue to exist today, and
be introduced to ways they can take part in local social change opportunities. Each event will close with a
discussion about how the film relates to community engagement and current challenges that Long Beach faces
in the present day and time. Lead partners include Hannibal Media Group and Long Beach Forward
