Wildfires ravage Southern California

Community of Altadena is greatly damaged by the Eaton Canyon Fire

Suffice to say that 2025 has brought in a litany of destructive and catastrophic events. On New Year morning, we were shocked and appalled at the news of a truck plowing through the crowds of revelers on the famed Bourbon Street in New Orleans. This was closely followed by a truck bomb just outside Trump Tower in Las Vegas. These acts of domestic terrorism threw the public into deep anguish and sadness. And then, less than a week later, southern California exploded into flames.

Wild fires in Pacific Palisades and Malibu exploded with a vengeance while even more fires, ignited across the vast region. The Eaton Canyon Fire devastated Altadena, CA, a city adjacent to Pasadena and home to a vibrant generational cblack community.

The devastation we have seen is unimaginable. The suufering of humanity is mind-boggline. And yet, the people are resilient. On the podcast Coffee Conversations with Greg J, we hear from Pastor G. LaKeith Kennebrew as he shares what they experienced , what they need and how the community is coming together to help those in need.

Thousands have lost thier homes and the City is under a security curfew imposed by the Los Angeles County Sheriff and enforced by the California National Guard.

Law Enforcement has also informed the public that looting has emerged as an issue in the aftermath of the fires. And so the affected area , constituted by thousands of home, has been locked down
